The first drones were developed in 1935 by the Royal Air Force. These rudimentary UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) were used for aerial target practice. The development of drones for the military and aerospace industries in the 1980s soon became mainstream. These unmanned aerial vehicles serve several purposes thanks to their remotely controlled systems and high-resolution cameras, including search missions, deliveries, photography, and videography.
When it came to intelligence operations, drones allowed them to take pictures from entirely different angles, which was previously dangerous or almost impossible. Another factor is the considerably lower price. The alternative was large, manned aircrafts.
